Owning a dog is one of the greatest joys in life! However, the responsibility that comes with pet ownership can often be overwhelming. Ease your mind with some fun, simple hacks to increase enjoyment and strengthen the bond with your doggo! Here is a list that makes owning a dog much easier.

Ten Fun, Innovative Dog Owner Hacks:

  1. Fast Eater Hack: Does your dog devour food a little too fast? Try throwing a ball in the food bowl. Your dog will be forced to move the ball around, preventing them from eating too quickly. This hack could be helpful for dogs on a diet. Hopefully, your pooch does not figure out that they can simply remove the ball from the bowl.

  2. Summer Heat Hack: The dog days of summer can be brutal, but your dog can easily cool down with DIY ice licks. You can make an ice lick by freezing toys or PupCorn in chicken broth. Use whatever mold you have, for example an ice tray or a silicone mold. This will keep your dog distracted and hydrated for hours.

  3. Nail Clipping Hack: Do your dog’s nails need a trim but you do not have time to go to the groomer? Distract your dog with peanut butter while you work the scissors or grinder. This hack is helpful with third party willing to cover their fingers in the gooey goodness. If you do not have another set of hands, you can spread peanut butter on the bathtub wall or a toy that suctions to the wall or ground.

  4. Nail Clipping Hack, Part Two: Trimming a dog’s nails can be risky business. If you accidentally cut the nails too short, mix up cornstarch and water to stop the bleeding. Apply the mixture to the bleeding nails using a cotton swab. Out of cornstarch? Use flour or baking soda instead.

  5. Keep Rugs in Place Hack: If you have rugs in your home, this tip is for you. A case of the zoomies can take over your pet at any moment, whether it is in the back yard or inside the house. Velcro down corners of your rug so they stay in place when your fur babies run wild. This way your rugs will not be moved around, and cleaning is still simple.

  6. Hairy Car Seats Hack: Is your car covered in dog hair? Grab a squeegee and head to the garage or driveway. A squeegee can be used to remove hair from the seats. The rubber tip can be more effective than a vacuum because the rubber tip really grabs onto the hair. Just sweep the hair in one direction. If you do not have a squeegee, you can also use rubber dish-washing gloves.

  7. Outdoor Pet Food Hack: If your dog’s food bowl is outside and ants are marching to the delicious food, draw a line of chalk around the bowl. The ants will not cross a chalk line because they are easily confused, and the chalk interferes with scents left by other ants.

  8. Paw Hack: If the weather outside is extremely cold or hot, you can rub Vaseline onto the dog’s paw before stepping outside. The Vaseline will create a protective layer that will protect the paws from getting burned on the asphalt and from salt on the roads. As a bonus, it also keeps paws hydrated! Just be sure to rinse the paws with warm water after the walk to remove anything collected the stroll before heading back inside.

  9. Play Hack: Need to relax but your dog has a lot of energy? Play fetch downhill! This trick will wear out your dog quickly and count for great exercise. Reward your dog with delicious PupCorn Plus for all their challenging work.

  10. Treat Hack: This last DIY hack will distract your dog for hours as well as satisfy their treat cravings. All you need is scissors, a tennis ball, and PupCorn Plus treats! Cut a slit in the tennis ball big enough to stuff a few tasty treats inside and viola, you have a homemade toy. This toy should distract your doggo for a few hours or at least until the treats are gone.
