Plan the Ultimate Puppy Picnic
The dog days of summer are swiftly approaching! Give your pups the opportunity to stretch their legs and get some fresh air with a puppy picnic. Picnics can be an enjoyable afternoon of relaxation and rest, but it is important to remember your pup’s needs before you pack your basket. With a little prep and planning, you and your four-legged friend can enjoy a unique summer afternoon at the park.
Pack Your Basket
Prepare your basket for the park with items for you and your pup. You will need a blanket to sit on and snacks for both of you. Avoid any foods that are toxic to pups. Water is always essential to any outdoor activity so be sure to pack a bowl for your pup and a few bottles for yourself. You can include a few of their favorite toys and of course, a bag of Pup Corn Plus.
Prepare Your Pup
Before you head out to enjoy some vitamin D at the park, make sure that your pet’s identification tags are up to date. Your pet is likely to be microchipped but proper ID tags on your pet’s collar will save some time and headache in worst cause scenarios. When you arrive at the park for the picnic pizazz, let your dog sniff around and get some extra energy out before picking a picnic spot for lunch.
Pick the Spot
When searching for the pawfect picnic spot, make sure the area is dog friendly. There are usually signs with ‘no dogs allowed” or “pets must be leashed” so you know how to handle your pet in the specific park. If you are not sure and want to check before you leave the house, do a quick Google search, or call the city offices.
When you reach the park and find the right spot, you will know it! The grass will be green and there will be plenty of shade to help you and your pet relax. Check the area for plants that could be toxic to your pup.
Picnic and Play
Spread out and create a space for your pup to play and enjoy. After you snack, throw around the toys you brought for a game of catch. The exercise will be good for you and help strengthen your bond. Picnics can be a wonderful way to socialize with your pup and even make friends.
